Andreas Wessel, born May 6, 1929, in Vestre Aker, Norway (now a suburb of Oslo), and he died September 11, 2009, in Bærum, Norway. He was the second eldest of the four children on a farm in Nordre Tanum, born of Andreas Bredal Wessel (1900–1988) and Nanna F. With (1901–1989). He was a landowner.
It was in 1936 that his family bought Nordre Tanum. After graduating from Valler High School in 1947, Wessel eventually took over the family farm. However, they had a farm administrator from 1950 to 1990, Lauritz Haakenstad. The farm was surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, and Wessel was in several political battles about the development or protection of the Tanum forest. He was also chairman of Bærum Sogneselskap.
