Everett Marshall Washer, age 67, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012, during a business trip to South Carolina. He was the husband of Rebecca Washer. They were in the process of moving from their home in Sterling, Connecticut, back to Everett’s childhood home of Johnson, Vermont. Everett was born and raised in Johnson, graduated at the top of his high school class, and went on to receive a degree in geology from MIT. He had a successful career as an environmental engineer, working for several firms, including his most recent position with the Shaw Group. Everett married Terri (Annese) Washer in 1970. They raised two children in Stow, Massachusetts, and enjoyed skiing, traveling, hiking, good food and wine, cheering on the Red Sox, and walking their dog. Terri died in 2005 after a long struggle with cancer. Everett remarried in June 2011 to Rebecca, with whom he planned to spend his retirement. Besides his wife, Everett is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth, of Florence, Massachusetts; a son, Jonathan, of Arlington, Massachusetts; and a brother, Steve, of Keene, New Hampshire. He was the son of the late Marshall Washer, a longtime Johnson resident. A small memorial gathering took place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 1371 Plot Road in Johnson, Vermont.
