John B. Kreer ’48

John died March 17, 2012, at the age of 84. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to John and Mabel (Belshaw) Kreer, Jr. September 25, 1927. John was a professor of electrical engineering at MSU where he was also a department chair. He served his country during WWII in the US Navy. He received his Masters degree and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He came to teach at MSU in 1964 and retired in 1992. He was an active member of Peoples Church and served on their Board of Elders. He volunteered at the American Red Cross where he was a 20-gallon blood donor. John was a member of the ASEE and IEE and enjoyed being a HAM radio operator where he was known as “WA8ZTQ”.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Mabel. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vivienne (Huffman); daughter Carolyn (Andrew) Bratzel of Wheaton, IL; son Kenneth Kreer of Auburn, WA; grand children Amy, Allison and Claire Bratzel.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 11 a.m. at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 20, 5-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing.
